About this tool

Convert AGS files to Excel spreadsheets. Upload a .ags file and download a .xlsx workbook with each AGS group as a separate worksheet — ready for review, filtering, and analysis in Excel or Google Sheets.

Powered by the BGS AGS API. Three sort options are available: default (file order), alphabetical, or hierarchical (grouped by the AGS dictionary structure).

Your file is sent to the BGS API for conversion and is not stored. The converted file is downloaded as a ZIP containing the .xlsx and a conversion log.

How to use this tool

1. Upload your AGS file — drag and drop or click to browse.

2. Select sort order (optional) — default keeps the file order, alphabetical sorts A–Z, hierarchical groups by AGS dictionary.

3. Click Convert and download — the converted Excel file is downloaded as a ZIP.

Technical information

Each AGS group (HOLE, SAMP, ISPT, etc.) becomes a separate worksheet in the Excel file. Headings, units, and types are preserved in the first rows.

Supports all AGS 4.x versions. The conversion is lossless — all data, including empty fields and special characters, is preserved.

Limitations

The output is a ZIP file containing the .xlsx and a log file. Extract the ZIP to access your Excel file.

Very large AGS files (>50MB) may take longer to convert. The BGS API processes files server-side.

Requires an internet connection — conversion is performed by the BGS API, not locally in the browser.
